Elliot Page Still Awaits New Roles Despite 'The Odyssey' Success

Elliot Page Still Awaits New Roles Despite 'The Odyssey' Success

Despite starring in Christopher Nolan’s hit movie The Odyssey, Elliot Page is still waiting for his phone to ring. The Oscar nominee, 39, played Greek soldier Sinon in Nolan’s fantasy epic, reuniting with the director 16 years after they collaborated on Inception. But in a new interview on the “On Film… With Kevin McCarthy” podcast, Page admitted that the film’s critical and commercial success hasn’t resulted in more acting offers. Host Kevin McCarthy reasoned that Page must be “getting a zillion calls after this movie,” to which Page surprisingly responded, “No, Kevin, I’m not.” “I’d really love to do, ideally, good work,” Page said on the Tuesday, September 1, podcast episode. “That’s what I’d love to do.” Page also discussed his experience on the set of The Odyssey compared to filming Inception before his transition. The actor came out as a transgender man in December 2020. “I had such a great time being in that movie … but I was also personally really uncomfortable,” he said of filming Inception. “I feel like, now, because that’s removed, I don’t have to deal with that when I’m acting, in my performances. I feel like I could do some of my best work now.” “I’m not having to literally work through a performance that I don’t even quite know I’m doing to get to a performance,” he explained. “So, the experience of walking onto a Chris set this time … in ways of it being cathartic, when I wrapped on The Odyssey, I had a moment. There was a full-circle moment.” Page appeared alongside a star-studded cast in The Odyssey, including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Zendaya and more. However, before the movie’s release, Nolan received criticism from some on the political right for casting Page and Lupita Nyong’o, who played Helen of Troy. In a July interview with the U.K.'s Telegraph newspaper, Nolan said he was unbothered by backlash. “But look, these conversations that happen before people see the film — they’re always irrelevant, because no one having them knows what the film actually is yet,” he said. “All I can do is make the best film I possibly can in the most sincere way. It’s very different from how anyone else would do it, but that’s what adaptation is.” Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg also passionately defended Page’s casting on The View. “You don’t like Elliot Page? Don’t go see the damn movie. Don’t do it. We will be OK if you don’t go see it,” she said in July. “A lot of conservatives who see this are going to feel the same way [about Page’s casting]. That’s OK. But I don’t understand … why go see the movie?” Goldberg continued. “If you don’t wanna see it, then don’t go see it. Why do you care who’s cast in it? I don’t understand this idea that if we hate it, everybody must hate it.”

Travis Kelce's Ohio Mansion Purchase Sparks Buzz Before Taylor Swift Wedding

Travis Kelce's Ohio Mansion Purchase Sparks Buzz Before Taylor Swift Wedding

Travis Kelce secured the keys to a $5.35 million Ohio mansion less than five months prior to marrying Taylor Swift in New York City. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, published on Tuesday, September 1, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 36, “closed on the house in March,” ahead of his Madison Square Garden wedding to Swift, also 36, on July 3. The outlet reported that property records, in addition to “people familiar with the deal,” show that the lakefront estate had asked for $5.99 million, suggesting that Kelce had brokered a good deal on the purchase. Records also provided detail into the 3.5-acre property, located in the small village of Bratenahl in Cuyahoga, Ohio, which is within miles from the athlete’s home town of Cleveland Heights. Sitting on the edge of Lake Erie, the historic home was originally built in 1895 and spans “roughly 21,000” square-feet. It features eight bedrooms, per the outlet, while an original ballroom was converted into a game room and home theater prior to the sale. A gatehouse on the property was also converted into a two-bedroom guest cottage. A statement from The Agency Cleveland, who represented either side of the purchase, was shared with the outlet: “We’re thrilled for the new owners and so excited for Cleveland.” In August 2025, Us exclusively reported that Kelce and Swift, who began dating in the summer of 2023, were on the hunt for a forever home after getting engaged several weeks prior. The couple were even spotted in Ohio at the time, visiting JoJo’s Bar in nearby Chagrin Falls. A source explained to Us at the time, “They aren’t 100 percent sure where they will plant roots, so that’s why they have been looking around.” During the couple’s engagement, Kelce resided in Leawood, Kansas, near the Chiefs’ home office of Arrowhead Stadium. Swift, meanwhile, boasted a property portfolio that spanned the country, but was said to often be found there at the time. (Swift, for her part, is a native of West Reading, Pennsylvania, which is about 60 miles outside of Philadelphia.) Earlier on Tuesday, Kelce confirmed that he and his wife have become fur parents to a fluffy white Samoyed named Wendy, per reporting by Forbes. Kelce and the pooch appear in a new Tommy Hilfiger fashion campaign, originally shared by Vogue on Tuesday. The outlet noted within its reveal that the “Hilfiger creative team had been talking about casting a canine for the campaign when Kelce volunteered the one that he shares with Taylor Swift.” “We figured, why not her? She crushed it and actually really fit into that Tommy aesthetic, too,” Kelce told the outlet of his pal’s photo shoot debut. “Those are some of my favorite shots.”

Jane Gaudreau's Heartfelt Tribute to Sons Johnny and Matthew: 'I'm Still Stuck'

Jane Gaudreau is remembering her sons, hockey stars Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, two years after their deaths. “Over two years have passed and I still feel as heartbroken as I did that day in August when my world fell apart,” Jane wrote via Instagram on Monday, August 31. “The only thing that has really changed is that I have gotten better at pretending I’m okay.” She continued, “I smile. I laugh sometimes. I go to work. I take care of my family. I help others. From the outside, it may look like life is moving forward, but inside, my heart is breaking because I’m still stuck on the worst day of my life.” Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver while riding their bikes near their family’s New Jersey home in August 2024. Their younger sister, Katie, was supposed to get married the next day. “Missing you both every single minute of every single day,” Jane concluded. Katie and her husband, Devin Joyce, rescheduled their wedding and were married in June 2025. They announced in June 2026 that they welcomed a son named Matthew, named after one of her late brothers. “We’re so excited to welcome this new life,” Katie told Us in April. “I can’t wait to continue to tell my children stories about their uncles. I look at my parents as great role models of how I want to raise my family. I always say my mom should really write a book about how to raise a family.” Jane also spoke to Us at the time, opening up about losing her sons and accepting that they would not get to meet their nephew. “They were just such big fans of children,” Jane said. “Sometimes I think about that and it’s very heartbreaking that they didn’t get a chance to be with their children, or even their nieces or nephews.” Johnny’s widow, Meredith, gave birth to the couple’s son, Carter, in April 2025 following his death. The couple already shared daughter Noa, 3, and son Johnny Jr., 2. Matthew’s widow, Madeline, was also pregnant at the time of the brothers’ deaths. She gave birth to the couple’s only son, Tripp, in December 2024. Jane added that Johnny and Matthew’s friends and relatives have continued to make every effort to keep their legacies alive. “I don’t think people throughout the hockey world — throughout South Jersey to Columbus to Calgary — I don’t think they realize how much they did for us,” she told Us. “By them talking to us and bringing them into their world and seeing what they could do for us or how they could help keep John and Matty’s legacies alive, they just helped us so much with our grief.”

90 Day Fiancé's Jenny Slatten's ALS Fight: GoFundMe Reaches $100K Milestone

90 Day Fiancé's Jenny Slatten's ALS Fight: GoFundMe Reaches $100K Milestone

A fundraiser made to support 90 Day Fiancé alum Jenny Slatten amid her battle with ALS has raised more than $100,000. The GoFundMe page, created by Jenny’s friend Penny Minincleri, has received $110,116 out of $171,700 since its launch on May 20. Nearly 3,000 people have donated as of publication. “Jenny (Janet Colleen Slatten) was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS),” the page’s description reads. “Although she is still in the early stages, she has already begun experiencing symptoms such as changes in her voice, slurred speech, and difficulty swallowing.” ALS is a “nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord,” according to the Mayo Clinic. The illness “leads to muscle weakness and other symptoms that get worse over time,” eventually affecting the muscles needed to move, speak, eat and breathe. “As many of you know, ALS is a progressive disease that will require increasing medical care and support over time,” the page continued. “The primary purpose of this fundraiser is to help cover Jenny’s growing medical expenses, including mobility equipment such as a walker and wheelchair, in-home nursing or caregiver support and future hospital and treatment costs. Medication alone for 1 year will exceed $200,000.” The fundraiser also aims to help Jenny’s daughters, Christina and Dominique, spend extended time in India with their mom throughout her health battle. (Jenny, 68, moved to India in 2019 to be with husband Sumit Singh, whom she married in 2021, as seen on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.) “If you know Jenny and Sumit, whether through the show, social media, or personally, you know how loving, genuine and kindhearted they are,” the page added. “Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping them navigate the financial challenges ahead and ensuring Jenny has the care and support she needs.” An update in early July revealed that Jenny had experienced trouble swallowing and struggled with migraines beginning in December 2025. She underwent testing to determine whether she had a gene that would respond to medication designed to slow down the disease’s progression. “Since that diagnosis and in the last 8 months, Jenny's voice has deteriorated and speaks very slowly and she is experiencing weakness and loss of mobility while walking,” the page continued. “Once an avid walker, Jenny can only take a few steps at a time now but is still determined to keep walking.” A later update revealed that Jenny and Sumit, 38, would move to the U.S. for medical care if Sumit can obtain an emergency visa and if Jenny is cleared to fly. In an Instagram video on Sunday, August 30, Sumit shared more news regarding his wife’s condition. “Unfortunately, the ALS is progressing and now it’s starting showing more in her talking, like, it’s hard for her to talk now,” he said. “Earlier, she was doing good. It’s progressing, but we were thinking that we’d come to America … if we can get proper treatment. I always keep my hopes high, and I feel that America might have something better for Jenny and she can get at least a better support system.”

Matthew Perry's Unseen Legacy: What the New Netflix Doc Reveals

Matthew Perry's Unseen Legacy: What the New Netflix Doc Reveals

Matthew Perry is getting the documentary treatment three years after his tragic death. Netflix announced on Tuesday, September 1, a new three-part docuseries about the Friends alum titled The One About Matthew Perry. It will be the first in-depth documentary about Perry since his death in October 2023. The One About Matthew Perry will feature unreleased photos and videos from the Perry family’s private archive as well as testimony from Perry’s sister Mia Perry Bowick, who is a licensed psychotherapist, writer and speaker. “It’s taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories and what it was like to love Matthew through all the complexity of his life — to see him as a whole person, not just as Chandler, and not just as someone who struggled with addiction,” Bowick said in a statement on Tuesday. “As his sister, he shaped who I am today, the person I strive to be, and the work to which I’ve devoted my life. Matthew had a beautiful heart and a generous spirit, and even in his darkest moments, he could still make you laugh and feel loved. I hope this series gives everyone who loved him, whether personally or from afar, a deeper appreciation for who he truly was, and the legacy he leaves behind.” The doc is directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson, who is best known for her work on the Quiet on Set documentary. “Matthew Perry was one of the comedic geniuses of our time,” Robertson said in a statement on Tuesday. “Through his many films, TV and stage performances, and his unforgettable portrayal of Chandler Bing, he made millions of us laugh, connect and feel a little less alone. He also gave us so much more by bravely speaking about addiction. Yet the public only knew part of his story. That’s why we set out to make this series: to let the people who knew and loved Matthew reveal the person behind the public figure.” The One About Matthew Perry will premiere on October 27. Perry rose to fame for playing Chandler Bing on Friends. While Perry had a successful career, he struggled with addiction behind the scenes. The actor opened up his road to recovery in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. The following year, Perry was found dead at his home. He was 54. His cause of death was the acute effects of ketamine. Drowning, coronary artery disease and effects of buprenorphine, which is used to treat opioid use, were also contributing factors in Perry’s death. The manner of his death was ruled an accident. Five people have since pleaded guilty to charges related to Perry's death following an investigation into how he obtained a high dose of ketamine.

Jane Fonda's Emotional Tribute to Dolly Parton: 'She Meant Love'

Jane Fonda's Emotional Tribute to Dolly Parton: 'She Meant Love'

Jane Fonda became emotional discussing her longtime friend Dolly Parton in a new interview after the musician’s death. “She meant love,” Fonda, 88, said while trying to hold back tears during the Monday, August 31, episode of Democracy Now! “She really did. She loved everyone.” The 9 to 5 actress remembered spending 10 days with Parton on a tour bus as they explored Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas and other parts of the country. The lessons and memories from the trip remain with Fonda today. “I was in deep hollows of Tennessee and Arkansas where people lived in tarpaper shacks with no electricity or running water, and [Dolly] would come in in her full regalia,” Fonda shared. “They loved her so much that they accepted my presence. And it was so clear that she absolutely respected them.” She continued, “That was why there was so much love. She never played down. She always was pulled together. She was always who she was out of respect for her fans. She taught me the importance of acknowledging and respecting fans.” News broke on August 25 that Parton had died peacefully in Nashville at the age of 80. Although her official cause of death has yet to be announced, a spokesperson for the country music icon revealed that she died following a “brief battle with cancer.” While Parton may be most remembered for being a singer and philanthropist, Fonda praised the performer as a feminist. “She knew from the get-go who she was,” Fonda shared. “She knew that people would make fun of who she was because of how she looked. And so she did it first, and she did it so smart, and she was always in charge of her life.” The Oscar winner continued, “She wasn’t dumb. She had the ability, like X-Ray vision, she could see through people to their essence. Whatever the outside was, she could see, good or bad, to the essence of a person.” Parton was laid to rest during an intimate memorial service on Friday, August 28. Her team previously confirmed that she was actively working on several business opportunities up until her death. Plans to continue Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel, Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum, Dolly: A True Original Musical and other projects remain on schedule. “Dolly will always be with us because she was so present, so powerful, so generous and playful that she is woven into all our lives and hearts forever,” Fonda wrote via Instagram on August 25. “Let’s be grateful for all that she has left us to ease our sadness now.” In lieu of flowers, the family continues to ask for donations to be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age 5, no matter their family’s income.
