Charlie Kirk's Mother Speaks Out Against Feud Rumors with Erika Kirk New

Charlie Kirk's Mother Speaks Out Against Feud Rumors with Erika Kirk

Charlie Kirk’s mother, Kathryn Kirk, has broken her silence on rumors that she’s feuding with his widow, Erika Kirk. “We knew Charlie in a way that no one else did,” Kathryn told Vanity Fair in an interview with Erika, 37, published on Tuesday, September 29 — just over one year after the conservative activist was shot and killed at Utah Valley University while speaking at an event for his non-profit organization, Turning Point USA, which was taken over by his wife after his death. “We can look at each other’s eyes, and we know the depth of our despair,” Kathryn continued of her relationship with Erika. Addressing public criticism of Erika for taking over as CEO of TPUSA and rumors that the mother and daughter-in-law don’t get along, Kathryn added, “We were 100 percent behind her. Erika and I have, through the trauma, grown closer.” Erika’s leadership role within the organization has drawn questions about the direction she is taking the conservative group, especially after the president of TPUSA’s University of Georgia chapter resigned in April, claiming the group has strayed from Charlie’s vision since Erika took the helm. “I’m built different,” Erika told VF in response to the backlash. “I do not know how to explain it other than this world will not break me.” TPUSA confirmed Charlie’s death on September 10, 2025. He was 31. “It’s with a heavy heart that we, the Turning Point USA leadership team, write to notify you that early this afternoon, Charlie went to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in Heaven,” a statement from the organization wrote at the time. Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating Charlie, was charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice and witness tampering. He pleaded not guilty. In early September, a judge ruled that Robinson’s case would go to trial. The 23-year-old faces the death penalty if convicted. “[This decision was] an important step in our family’s pursuit of justice for him,” Charlie’s family said in a statement at the time. “Every step in this process carries the weight of all that Charlie’s murder has taken from his family, especially his [two] children who will grow up without their father. We are grateful to all who have continued to pray for us, support us, and stand with us through a year of unimaginable grief.” The statement continued, “As the next phase of the judicial process begins, our family remains united in our love for Charlie, our commitment to the pursuit of justice, and our prayer for a transparent and timely process.”

The Viral Math Puzzle That's Stumping Everyone: Can You Solve It? New

The Viral Math Puzzle That's Stumping Everyone: Can You Solve It?

Welcome to a fun mathematical puzzle that is going around the internet. At first glance, it looks like a simple test for elementary school students. The prompt on the paper gives us a clear challenge. It says: “No Pen, No Paper, Only Use Your Brain!”Underneath this instruction, we see a simple math equation: 12 + 48 ÷ 4! = ?Many people look at this problem and jump to an answer right away. However, many of those quick answers turn out to be completely wrong.Let us break down this puzzle step by step using basic math rules. To solve any equation with multiple operations, we must follow the order of operations. In mathematics, this order is commonly known as PEMDAS or BODMAS.This rule tells us to solve parentheses first, then exponents, followed by multiplication and division, and finally addition and subtraction.Looking at our equation, we see an addition sign and a division sign. Most people notice the exclamation mark after the number four and think it is just punctuation. They assume the exclamation mark is expressing excitement about the problem.Because of this assumption, they simply calculate 48 divided by 4 first.48 divided by 4 gives us 12.Then, they add 12 to 12 and arrive at the number 24.If you thought the answer was 24, you are not alone, but you missed a key mathematical symbol! In mathematics, an exclamation mark after a number is not an exclamation of excitement. It is a mathematical operation called a factorial.A factorial of a whole number means multiplying that number by every positive integer below it down to one. Therefore, 4! does not mean a loud “four”.It means 4 factorial, which is calculated as 4 × 3 × 2 × 1.Let us do that math first: 4 times 3 equals 12.Then, 12 times 2 equals 24.Finally, 24 times 1 equals 24.So, the symbol 4! is actually equal to the number 24.Now we can rewrite the original equation with this new value. The equation becomes: 12 + 48 ÷ 24 = ?Following the standard order of operations, division must be performed before addition. So, we perform the division part first: 48 divided by 24.48 divided by 24 equals 2.Now, our equation is simplified down to a very simple addition problem. We take the initial 12 and add the result of our division, which is 2.12 plus 2 equals 14.Therefore, the accurate logical answer to this viral puzzle is 14.It is an clever trick that tests both your knowledge of math symbols and order of operations!

Evelyn's Secret $11 Million Scratch Ticket Shocks Her Family New

Evelyn's Secret $11 Million Scratch Ticket Shocks Her Family

My daughter-in-law gave me a $2 scratch ticket for my 73rd birthday and laughed while I scratched it. I smiled, thanked her, and told no one what I saw under the silver coating. 10 months later, my son handed me a brochure for the senior home he and his wife had already chosen for me. I simply said, “That sounds fine.” The next morning, a letter arrived at their house. By the time my son finished reading it, he was staring at me as if he had never really known his own mother. The ticket was the only birthday gift they gave me that year. The price sticker was still stuck to the card.“Maybe you’ll win enough for bus fare, Evelyn,” my daughter-in-law, Paige, joked. My son, Graham, laughed. My grandchildren laughed because their parents did.I scratched the ticket with my thumbnail while Paige cut the cake I had baked for my own birthday. Then I saw the symbols.I checked them once. Then again. My heart began pounding.Nobody noticed.Graham was pouring wine. Paige was complaining that the frosting was too sweet. The children were staring at their phones.I folded the ticket and slipped it into my cardigan pocket.“No luck?” Graham asked.I smiled.“No bus fare.”Paige laughed.I thanked her for the card and began clearing the plates. That night taught me how much a woman can hide behind a calm face.My name is Evelyn Mercer. I am 73 years old.I had lived with Graham and Paige for nearly 4 years, ever since my husband, Thomas, di:ed.At first, Graham insisted I move in.“You shouldn’t be alone, Mom.”I believed he wanted me there.Slowly, though, I became useful rather than welcome.I cooked because Paige worked late. Then I cleaned because I had cooked.I picked up groceries, folded laundry, watched the children and rearranged my plans whenever somebody needed something. No one officially assigned those jobs to me.They simply became mine. Then one evening, while carrying towels past the kitchen, I heard Paige say:“Your mother is becoming a burden.”Graham sighed.“What am I supposed to do? She’s my mother.”That hurt more than Paige’s words.I had spent decades caring for him.Now caring about me sounded like an obligation. So when I discovered that the ridiculous ticket in my cardigan was worth millions, I did not tell them. The following Monday, while everyone was out, I took a taxi downtown. An estate attorney named Martin Hale examined the ticket.“Does anyone know?” he asked.“No.”“Keep it that way until we protect you.”Over the next several weeks, Martin helped me claim the prize as privately as the law allowed, organize the money, update my will and create trusts. After taxes and payout rules, I received far less than the advertised $11 million. It was still more than enough.I established education trusts for my grandchildren that Graham and Paige could never touch.I set aside money for my own future. Then Martin gave me one piece of advice.“Don’t change your life overnight.”So I didn’t.I went home.I cooked dinner.I clipped Paige’s coupons.I folded towels. For months, nobody suspected anything. But behind the scenes, I began preparing for a life that belonged to me.In March, Martin discovered that the elderly man who owned Graham’s rental house was considering selling it.He lived in Florida and was tired of managing property from another state.I asked Martin to look into it.That was all Graham ever knew.A few weeks later, Graham mentioned at dinner that ownership of the property had apparently changed.“Some company bought the place,” he said.“Really?” I asked.“T&E Property Holdings. Probably investors.”The initials made me think of Thomas. His little fishing business had once been called T&E Outdoor Supply.Thomas and Evelyn.Graham had grown up around boxes with those letters printed on the side. But he made no connection. After the ownership change, Graham simply began sending his monthly rent to a different address. He complained about the new landlord occasionally.I passed him the potatoes. In June, I bought something else.A little yellow cottage outside Wilmington, 15 minutes from my sister, Ruth.It had 2 bedrooms, rose bushes, a wide porch and a pale-yellow kitchen. The first time I walked through the door, I could picture myself growing old there without feeling like I was waiting to disappear.Only Ruth and my attorneys knew.I furnished it slowly.A blue sofa.An oak table.A reading chair beside the window.I had not yet decided exactly when I would leave Graham’s house. Then, 2 weeks ago, he decided for me.We were eating dinner when Graham put down his fork.“Mom, Paige and I have been talking.”Paige smiled.“We found somewhere we think you’ll love.”Graham handed me a brochure.Pine Harbor Senior Living.I looked at the smiling older couple on the cover.“You’ve been looking at retirement communities?”“We toured this one,” Paige said.Without me.She pointed to a small studio in the independent-living section.“They have meals, transportation, activities. People your own age.”I looked at Graham.“And you did this without asking me?”“We knew you’d worry,” he said.Paige quickly added, “We only paid a refundable holding deposit. You still have to do the intake appointment and sign everything.”“So nothing is final?”“Not technically.”“When did you want me to move?”Graham hesitated.“January 1.”It was mid-November.“Why January 1?”Neither answered at first. Then Graham admitted that Owen wanted my downstairs bedroom. He was getting older. He wanted more space. They had apparently discussed it for months.Paige reached across the table.“You’ll be happier around people your own age.”I looked at my son.“It’s for the best, Mom.”Something inside me became very still. Then I smiled.“I agree.”They both blinked.“You do?” Paige asked.“Yes.”Their relief was immediate. That hurt more than the brochure. They believed the problem had solved itself. That night, I called Martin.“I’m ready.”He already knew what I meant. We reviewed everything carefully.Graham and Paige were month-to-month tenants, and Martin confirmed that the tenancy could legally be ended with the required notice. The property would then be sold.I no longer wanted my finances tied to my son’s household. The formal notice would arrive December 1.Along with it, I asked Martin to include a handwritten letter.Tonight is November 30.My suitcase is beside the bedroom door.At 8:30 tomorrow morning, a courier will arrive. At 9:15, a taxi will take me away. The courier arrived at 8:27.I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee.Graham answered the door.A minute later, he returned carrying a large envelope.“T&E Property Holdings,” he muttered. He opened it.His forehead tightened.“What?”Paige came downstairs.“What happened?”“The landlord is ending our tenancy.”She stared at him.“What?”“They’re selling the house.”She grabbed the notice.“We always pay on time.”“It doesn’t matter. We’ve been given the required notice.”Then Graham noticed the second page.My letter. He unfolded it.His expression slowly changed.“Mom?”Paige looked between us.“What?”Graham handed her the paper. She read the first line. Then looked at me.“Why is there a letter from you in our landlord’s envelope?”I placed my coffee cup down.“Because I am your landlord.”Silence.Graham stared at me.“What?”“I own this house.”Paige actually laughed.“No, you don’t.”“Yes.”Graham shook his head.“Since when?”“April.”His eyes widened.“T&E?”“Thomas and Evelyn.”He stared at the notice again.“You bought this house?”“Yes.”“But how?”That was the moment I had been waiting for.I turned toward Paige.“Do you remember the scratch ticket you gave me for my birthday?”She frowned.“The joke ticket?”“Yes.”Her face changed.“You said you didn’t win.”“No. I said I didn’t win bus fare.”Graham stared at me.“How much?”“$11 million.”Paige dropped into a chair.“That ticket?”“That ticket.”Nobody spoke for several seconds. Then Graham asked:“Why didn’t you tell us?”I looked at him.“Why didn’t you tell me you were choosing where I would live?”“That’s different.”“No, Graham. It isn’t.”Paige folded her arms.“So you bought our house to punish us?”“No.”I shook my head.“I bought it months before Pine Harbor. At the time, I thought protecting the house where my grandchildren lived was a good investment.”“Then why sell it?”“Because I finally understood that protecting you should not require tying my money and my life to you forever.”Graham looked down.I continued.“You toured Pine Harbor without me. You picked a room. You chose a move date. You even paid a deposit before asking what I wanted.”“We were trying to help,” Paige said.“No. You were arranging my life around what was easiest for you.”Then Graham noticed my suitcase.“You’re leaving?”“Yes.”“For Pine Harbor?”“No.”“Where?”I smiled.“Home.”I told them about the yellow cottage. The porch. The roses. My sister living nearby.Graham looked stunned.“You bought another house too?”“In June.”“So you planned all this.”“No.”I picked up my purse.“I planned to have choices.”At 9:12, the taxi pulled up.Graham saw it through the window.“Mom, wait.”I lifted my suitcase.“What are we supposed to do?”“You have the full notice period required by law. You have time to find somewhere else.”“That isn’t much time.”I met his eyes.“You’ll still get to choose where you go.”He said nothing. At the door, Graham called after me.“Are you cutting us out of your life?”I turned.“No.”He looked surprised.“I’m leaving this house. I’m not stopping being your mother.”Paige glanced toward Graham, then asked quietly:“What about the money?”Graham looked embarrassed.I answered anyway.“Owen and Chloe already have education trusts. Neither of you can access them.”Paige blinked.“You did that before all this?”“Yes.”“They’re my grandchildren. Their future is not a wea:pon.”I kissed Graham on the cheek.“I love you.”His eyes filled.“Then stay. We can fix this.”I looked at him for a long moment.“I spent 4 years hoping somebody here would ask what I wanted. I shouldn’t have needed $11 million before my wishes mattered.”Then I left.Several months later, I sold the house.Graham and Paige found another rental before their tenancy ended. For a while, our relationship was difficult.Graham called angry. Then embarrassed.Eventually, apologetic.Paige took longer. One afternoon she finally called.“I treated you like staff,” she said.“Yes.”“I convinced myself that because you lived with us, we were doing you a favor.”I waited.“I’m sorry.”I did not instantly forgive everything. But I thanked her.Things improved slowly. Now, when Graham wants me to visit, he asks. When Paige needs help with the grandchildren, she asks.Nobody assumes my time belongs to them.Last month, Graham visited my cottage alone. We sat on the porch drinking coffee while the roses moved in the breeze. He looked around.“Dad would have loved this place.”“Yes.”“He would have been furious with me.”“Probably.”Graham stared into his cup. Then he said something that made me cry.“You know what bothers me most?”“What?”“If that ticket had been worthless, you still deserved better.”That was when I knew he finally understood. The money gave me security. It gave me lawyers. It gave me a home of my own.But it did not give me dignity.I already had that.I still keep Paige’s birthday card in a drawer. The card cost about $1.The ticket cost $2.It was probably the cheapest birthday gift anyone ever gave me.And the most valuable. Not because it was worth millions.Because it finally gave me the freedom to ask myself one question:If I had somewhere else to go, would I still choose to live this way?The answer was no.And this time, the choice was mine.

Pete Davidson Opens Up About Surviving the Kardashian Romance New

Pete Davidson Opens Up About Surviving the Kardashian Romance

Pete Davidson is looking back fondly on his past romance with Kim Kardashian. “I’m one of the survivors — the few and the proud. We’re like the Marines,” Davidson, 32, joked to Variety in an interview published on Wednesday, September 30, about the men who’ve dated Kardashians. “Look, man, that’s a really tough atmosphere if you’re not game. One of the things I love about Kim and that whole family is they’re like, ‘This is what we do.’ I found that very attractive and mature.” Davidson met the Kardashians star in October 2021 while working together on Saturday Night Live. After sharing a kiss as Aladdin and Jasmine in a sketch, the pair began dating before breaking things off in August 2022. “I was never subjected to anything I didn’t want to be a part of. She was super respectful of all of it, but the craze of that lifestyle — being followed everywhere, having security and looking over your shoulder — for a guy with mental stuff and at the time drug problems was a little too much for me,” Davidson shared in his candid interview. “But we’re cool, and I have a lot of love for her, and I knew what I was getting into.” Davidson found himself dating Kardashian, 45, as she was going through a challenging divorce from rapper Kanye West. (The pair share children North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7.) West infamously reacted to his then-estranged wife dating Davidson by posting threats on Instagram and depicting a Claymation Davidson getting kidnapped and beheaded in the music video for his song “Eazy.” In his latest interview, Davidson acknowledged that the chatter had an impact on him. “What tripped me out is I was super open about mental stuff — everyone knows this about me — and it’s like he was [saying], ‘Kill yourself.’ And he did push me,” he told the outlet. To this day, Davidson has empathy for West, 49, and pointed out that the Grammy-winning rapper also lost a parent “and has mental stuff.” (The comedian's firefighter dad, Scott, was killed in the September 11 attacks in 2001 while West's mom, Donda, died after undergoing plastic surgery in 2007.) “I don’t know how he deals with it or who he has around him. Probably a lot of people who want to be his friend. I’ve had that,” Davidson shared. “When people are so far up your ass and constantly pushing and provoking you and not showing you love, you want to burn it all. I think it got to a certain point where he was like, ‘Leave me the f*** alone. I’m just going to say crazy s***.’” Davidson showcased his sense of humor when trying to find the bright side in the sometimes difficult situation. “I like to think I got that one out of the way for [Kardashian] because whoever that guy was going to be was gonna get it,” he joked. “I cleared the path for her to get back into the dating pool.”

Christa Pike's Failed Execution Sparks Outrage After Surviving Two Lethal Injections New

Christa Pike's Failed Execution Sparks Outrage After Surviving Two Lethal Injections

Death row inmate Christa Pike survived a failed execution attempt after being administered two lethal injections, her lawyer said. Pike, 50, was transported to a Tennessee hospital after the attempted execution on Wednesday, September 30. In an emergency motion to halt the execution on Wednesday, her legal team said, “Ms. Pike has lost consciousness and still has a heartbeat and is audibly snoring.” An attorney for the convicted murderer told the BBC that she was “being provided life-saving measures” at a Tennessee hospital after being injected with two syringes of pentobarbital. The Tennessee Department of Correction told NBC News that Pike was “transported to an off-site medical facility” following Wednesday’s execution attempt at Riverbend Maximum Security Prison in Nashville. “The Tennessee Department of Correction followed every step of the state's lawful, established execution protocol approved by the Attorney General’s Office,” a TDOC spokesperson told The Tennessean newspaper. “The lethal injection chemical in the protocol has consistently been effective, and the protocol does not allow for additional procedures beyond what was carried out this evening.” Pike is the sole woman on death row in Tennessee and was expected to be the first woman executed in the state in more than 200 years, per historical records. In 1996, Pike was convicted of the murder of classmate Colleen Slemmer. Slemmer’s mother, May Martinez, who attended the attempted execution, told NBC News, “It was a mess.” Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said in a statement, “Carrying out a lawfully imposed sentence is among the state's most serious responsibilities, and the people of Tennessee expect it to be done in a manner that is not only legal and constitutional but is effective. I have ordered a comprehensive, third-party review to determine exactly what occurred.” “Tonight the State of Tennessee once again failed to carry out a lawful execution,” Pike’s legal team told The Tennessean. “We take no pleasure in being right, but the concerns raised by Ms. Pike proved to be true: difficult vein access, blown veins, degraded pentobarbital, no emergency medical care available when things inevitably go wrong, all under a protocol that remains veiled in secrecy.” Earlier on Wednesday, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit stayed Pike’s execution just an hour before it was due to take place at 10 a.m. local time. However, the U.S. Supreme Court later overruled that decision, allowing the execution to go ahead.

Why Sunny Hostin's Defense of a DA Is Stirring Controversy New

Why Sunny Hostin's Defense of a DA Is Stirring Controversy

The View cohost Sunny Hostin is defending a district attorney for not bringing charges against several Cornell University fraternity members accused of gang raping a fellow student in 2024. “I have the statement that Jane Doe wrote at that time. It’s several pages long,” Hostin, 57, claimed during the Tuesday, September 29, episode of ABC’s hit daytime talk show. “I will say that under current New York state law, voluntary intoxication or drug use — and she voluntarily drank a lot and she voluntarily snorted ketamine off of one of the boy’s body parts — she allowed other boys and consented to other boys snorting ketamine off of her body.” The former federal prosecutor continued, “Under New York law, voluntary intoxication or drug use that merely impairs judgment does not legally constitute an inability to consent to sexual activity.” Hostin went on to say that she understood why Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten didn’t bring charges to a group of fraternity brothers after the alleged 2024 assault. “If you voluntarily ingest drugs, voluntarily take alcohol, you can agree to have threesomes, which, in her statement, she agreed to have two separate threesomes,” Hostin claimed. “One young man did walk in and say, ‘Everybody out.’ So there was one person who did that. According to her statement, three of the young men did not touch her.” In the wake of her polarizing take, Hostin made it clear that Jane Doe’s new lawsuit should absolutely be investigated and taken seriously. At the same time, she advised viewers during The View’s Hot Topics segment to investigate more than just headlines before jumping to conclusions. “I say all of that to say the pictures of these young men who have not been charged — not been adjudicated — are being plastered all over the internet,” she said. “I think people are reporting this story inaccurately. I think they’re reporting it unfairly.” Hostin continued, “While this is something that we have to take very seriously, there is no way, according to her statement in 2024, that any prosecutor would’ve brought forth a case.” Jane Doe, a former student at the Ivy League school, sued Cornell and seven male fraternity members, alleging that she was drugged and sexually assaulted for at least seven hours in October 2024 at the Chi Phi fraternity house in Ithaca, New York. No arrests have been made in connection with the case, and the local district attorney has said he is reopening the case in light of the civil suit and leaked messages from a snapchat group message advertising “free p****,” the derogatory term for female genitalia, at the time of the alleged assault. Attorneys representing the named fraternity members have vigorously denied the claims in the lawsuit. “Jane Doe’s sworn statement in November of 2024 did not allege that she was drugged against her will or gang raped. On the contrary, Jane Doe’s statement described her participation in drug use and sexual conduct as voluntary, conscious, and consensual,” Van Houten said in a statement. “My office obviously did not and could not have based our November 2024 decision on the allegations in a civil lawsuit that would not be filed until nearly two years later. Furthermore, I have never been contacted by Jane Doe’s attorneys.” The attorney for Jane Doe has disputed Van Houten’s description of the alleged victim’s initial statement and faulted authorities for never following up with his client. "In my experience, speaking with an abuse survivor requires delicacy, understanding and specialized training,” attorney Thomas P. Giuffra told ABC News. “An average University Police officer would not have these skills. It would be the role of a specially trained detective or district attorney. However, Ms. Doe was never contacted by anybody with those skills.” Cornell University said in a statement that it takes allegations of sexual violence "extremely seriously" and that its Office of Civil Rights and Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards "investigated and adjudicated the allegations consistent with university policies." "Any suggestion that the University did not impose consequential punishments for those involved is false," Cornell said in September via ABC News. "A continuation of the false narrative that there were minimal consequences in this case is irresponsible, will make survivors feel less safe and supported, and will perpetuate the underreporting of sexual assault." If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673).

Hidden Van Gogh and Cézanne Masterpieces Unveiled After 50 Years New

Hidden Van Gogh and Cézanne Masterpieces Unveiled After 50 Years

See more of our coverage in your search results. A dozen Impressionist and post-Impressionist artworks collectively valued at almost half a billion dollars are going up for auction after sitting unseen for decades in a fabled private collection in South America.Sotheby’s auction house said Wednesday that works by Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne are expected to smash records for the artists in the Nov. 18 sale in New York. If so, it would be the latest sign that, in uncertain times, ultrawealthy art collectors are seeking security in masterpieces.Paul Cezanne’s ‘Arlequin’ is on display during a preview of the Blaquier-Arrieta Collection at Sotheby’s in London, Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026. ZUMAPRESS.comVincent van Gogh’s painting “Chataigniers en fleurs,” painted in May 1890 in Auvers-sur-Oise, is shown. The work and other pieces have not been seen in public in decades. Sotheby's New York/Blaquier-Arrieta collectionThe paintings come from a collection amassed by the late Argentine art collector Nelly Arrieta de Blaquier and her sugar magnate husband, Carlos Pedro Blaquier, and are being sold by their children. They include van Gogh’s landscape “Châtaigniers en fleurs,” (Chestnut Trees in Flower) estimated at $180 million, and Cézanne’s portrait “Arlequin,” which carries an estimate of $120 million. Neither has been seen in public for half a century.Helena Newman, Sotheby’s head of Impressionist and modern art, said the collection was like a “mini- Musée D’Orsay,” the Paris museum that holds one of the world’s greatest collections of Impressionist and post-Impressionist artworks.“In my 30-plus years at Sotheby’s, I’ve never had the privilege of handling a collection of quite this content and caliber,” she said.Newman said van Gogh’s painting of flowering chestnut trees captures the “explosion of energy and vitality” the artist felt after his release from a psychiatric asylum in May 1890. He took his own life two months later.Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s painting “En Canon (Jeune fille a la barque)” is displayed during a preview of the Blaquier-Arrieta Collection at Sotheby’s in London, Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026. ZUMAPRESS.comThe Cézanne portrait is one of four paintings of the artist’s son dressed as the Harlequin figure from clowning. The other three are in major museums. Also in the collection are Parisian cityscapes by Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro, a horse-racing image by Edgar Degas and a boating scene by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, all valued in the tens of millions of dollars.Art expert Philip Hook, a former Sotheby’s auctioneer, said the collection “really is the stuff of legend,” because the collectors did not loan out the works for exhibitions.Claude Monet’s painting “Le Jardin des Tuileries” is on display during a preview of the Blaquier-Arrieta Collection at Sotheby’s in London, Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026. ZUMAPRESS.com“No one knew really what was in it. So now, for this to be revealed, is tremendously exciting,” Hook said.“They came out with a collection that, rather cleverly, is focused on getting one representative work by each of the major names (of Impressionist and post-Impressionist art), and that is incredibly difficult to do,” he added. “They succeeded with huge, huge style and success.”Newman said sale is likely to attract global attention, with potential buyers ranging from American tech billionaires to well-endowed Middle Eastern institutions and rich collectors from North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.“In times where there’s a lot of global macro geopolitical uncertainty, it’s almost like there’s a return to really established, tried and tested” works that are “unquestionably great,” Newman said.“(This) museum-quality Impressionist collection … is pretty rare.”
